Professor Stefania Bandini Joins the National Council of Tesori d’Europa as Diplomatic Advisor for Relations with Universities and Governmental Institutions
Tesori d’Europa is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Stefania Bandini to its National Council in the role of Diplomatic Advisor for Relations with Universities and Governmental Institutions.
An internationally recognized figure in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, complex systems, and international scientific cooperation, Professor Bandini is today considered one of the Italian personalities most actively engaged in building cultural, academic, and institutional bridges between Europe and Japan. Currently serving as Full Professor at the University of Milano-Bicocca, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Lab within the Department of Informatics, Systems and Communication, and Visiting Professor / Advisor at The University of Tokyo, Professor Bandini has developed throughout her career a strongly international profile characterized by a constant commitment to scientific diplomacy and academic cooperation between European and Japanese institutions.
Over the years, she has played a strategic role in strengthening scientific and institutional relations between Italy and Japan through academic mobility programs, international cooperation agreements, networking initiatives, and liaison activities involving universities, research centers, consulates, and Japanese governmental organizations. Particularly significant has been her contribution to initiatives dedicated to scientific dialogue between the two countries, including the “Bridging Italy and Japan” programs, as well as her role in representing the University of Milano-Bicocca in the signing of international cooperation agreements with major Japanese universities, including Chuo University and RCAST – The University of Tokyo.
Professor Bandini’s appointment to the National Council of Tesori d’Europa further strengthens the international dimension of the project and confirms the network’s commitment to developing a structured dialogue with the European and international academic, scientific, and institutional world, promoting cultural, academic, and cooperation activities between the Member States of the European Union and Japan. Within her role, Professor Bandini will contribute to the development of strategic relations with universities, research institutions, governmental bodies, and innovation ecosystems, supporting the growth of a European network founded on intercultural dialogue, the enhancement of expertise, and the creation of new international connections.
Of particular importance will be the development of the ONE-HEALTH area and the strengthening of relations between Italy and Japan in the context of prevention programs, healthcare protection, social integration, and innovation related to the theme of longevity. This path will involve close cooperation with universities, research centers, public institutions, innovation ecosystems, and international organizations engaged in the study of demographic transformations and the new social challenges connected to population ageing, while enhancing European and Japanese scientific excellence.
Special attention will be dedicated to interdisciplinary cooperation models integrating health, technology, social sustainability, quality of life, and Artificial Intelligence, areas in which Professor Bandini has been actively engaged for years through research activities and international coordination projects focused on “Artificial Intelligence for an Ageing Society.” Her expertise in Artificial Intelligence, complex systems, interdisciplinary innovation, and internationalization policies will represent a major added value for the future activities of Tesori d’Europa and for the project’s broader cultural, social, and human development.
